Do I need a visa to visit China in 2026?
It depends on your passport, passport type, purpose, stay length and itinerary. Some ordinary-passport holders qualify for nationwide visa-free entry, a mutual exemption, 240-hour visa-free transit or a regional policy. Use the checker, then confirm the result with an official Chinese authority and your carrier.
Which countries can use China's 240-hour visa-free transit?
The National Immigration Administration expanded the policy to 57 eligible nationalities on 20 August 2026. Travelers must also hold a qualifying passport, use a designated port and have a confirmed onward journey to a third country or region.
Is 240-hour visa-free transit the same as 30-day visa-free entry?
No. Nationwide 30-day visa-free entry and 240-hour visa-free transit are separate policies. Transit requires an eligible onward route to a third country or region and limits travelers to designated areas.
Does the checker store my passport information?
No. The checker asks only for general trip details and nationality. It does not request a passport number, legal name, date of birth or document image.
