China Airport Transfers: Taxi, Metro or Private Car?

Choose the best airport transfer for your arrival time, group and luggage.

Reviewed August 20263 min readHow we review

The best transfer depends on the exact airport, terminal, arrival time, group and luggage. Verify the final public-transport departure before flying and keep a second plan for delays.

Metro and airport rail

Rail is usually economical and avoids road traffic, but it may stop before late international arrivals and require stairs or transfers. Check the airport operator's current timetable.

Official taxi

Use the signed taxi queue and insist on the normal meter or official fare process. Ignore unsolicited drivers approaching inside the arrivals hall.

Pre-arranged transfer

A booked driver is useful for late arrivals, children, mobility needs or several large bags. Confirm terminal, flight monitoring, meeting point, waiting policy and total price in writing.

Prepare the address

Keep your hotel name, verified Chinese address, telephone number and booking name available offline. Confirm that similarly named hotel branches are not confused.
