Xi'an 2-Day Itinerary: Terracotta Army and City Walls

A realistic two-day Xi'an plan for the Terracotta Army, historic center and local food.

Reviewed August 20263 min readHow we review

Two days works when the Terracotta Army receives a dedicated half or full day and the city-center sights are grouped together.

Day 1: Terracotta Army

Travel to Lintong with a confirmed museum reservation and passport. Allow time for all main pits and museum context, then keep the evening light after returning to the city.

Day 2: Historic center

Combine the city wall with the Bell and Drum Tower area, then choose a mosque, museum or quieter food street. Do not confuse a market visit with a complete understanding of Xi'an's Muslim communities.

If you have a third day

Add the Shaanxi History Museum, Giant Wild Goose Pagoda area or another archaeological site according to reservation availability.

Frequently asked questions

Is two days enough for Xi'an?

Yes for the Terracotta Army and city core. Three days is better if museums are a priority.

Should the Terracotta Army and city wall be on the same day?

Separating them is more realistic because the museum is outside central Xi'an.
